The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association needs your help to help make GLASA’s 5K Twilight Run and Post-Race Party a success!
The proceeds from this event will help GLASA provide year-round, daily adaptive sports programming and financial assistance for over 63% of GLASA athletes through the Athlete Scholarship Fund.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE:
REGISTRATION: 11:30 am – 2:30 pm & 2:15 pm – 5:15 pm
SET UP: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
COURSE SAFETY MARSHAL: 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
BEVERAGES: 4:30 pm – 9:00 pm
SAFETY MARSHAL DRIVER: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
FOOD SERVICE: 4:30 pm – 9:00 pm
GEAR CHECK: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
TABLE BUSSERS: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
MILE SPLIT TIME CALLERS: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
SECURITY: (2 Adults) 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
FIRST AID STATIONS: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
CLEAN UP: 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm
LEAD CYCLISTS: 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
PHOTOGRAPHERS: 4:30 pm – 9:00 pm
WATER STATION: 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
FINISH LINE: 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm
VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
REGISTRATION/RACE PACKET PICK UP:
Work check-in table for same-day registrations and race packet distribution.
Assist logistics crew with the set up of the course and the Post-Race Party (tables, chairs, decorations).
COURSE SAFETY MARSHAL:
Course Safety Marshals will be placed around the race route at intersections to assist with traffic control to ensure the safety of the race participants (and to cheer on the race participants!). Course Marshals should be at least 16 years of age.
Oversee the sale of non-alcoholic beverages.
SAFETY MARSHAL DRIVER:
Adults with van/SUV to assist in placing Safety Marshals along race route.
Assist with food set up/service and food sales during the Post-Race Party.
Oversee race participant gear check station similar to a coat check.
Clear tables of unwanted/used items and empty garbage cans during the Post-Race Party.
MILE SPLIT TIME CALLERS:
Placed at Mile Markers 1 & 2 who will call out times to passing runners.
During the Post-Race Party, monitor activities to ensure no underage consumption of alcoholic beverages and overall safety of party goers. Adult volunteers only.
CLEAN UP: Help with taking down signs, tables, chairs and decorations after event.
Need 2 experienced adult cyclists to lead race participants through the course. Must keep a 16 mph minimum pace for 3.1 miles.
Pass out cups of water to passing race participants midway through course.
FINISH LINE ASSISTANT:
Assist with directing race participants as they cross the finish line, pass out water to participants and post race results.
